Public transport

You can easily get everywhere with public transportation. Certainly if you are not traveling at night.

To pay for public transport you can always just buy a ticket when you board.

But easier, faster and (with a few trips) also cheaper is with an OV Chipcard, the official public transport card valid throughout the Netherlands.

You purchase an empty / anonymous chip card for € 7.50 which you then top up with your bank card / credit card or cash. You then check in yourself when boarding and you check out again when you get off and you only pay for the distance traveled.
